General Information about Units 1-5
Each unit contains both a privately keyed entrance and exit, wall mounted air conditioner, heat source, kitchenette, dining nook, and either a full bathroom with tub/shower combination or ¾ bathroom with tiled shower. Unit 1 has a large fenced yard. The other units have the option of fencing a small yard off of the north exit door.
Kitchenettes include a cupboard, storage shelves, counter with stainless steel bar sink, microwave, dorm sized refrigerator, toaster, and crock pot.
All rooms are furnished or partially furnished and tastefully decorated. Different themes are available, including Native American, Sailing/Sea, Classical Art/Music, Western, Songbirds/Irises.
Monthly rent includes use of laundry facilities, and sharing a fully stocked kitchen,, stocked library with wi-fi, solarium, community room with satellite TV, bath house, inner courtyard, garden facilities, and outdoor recreational facilities, as well as utilities for community areas. Also included are pure artesian water, septic service, garbage service, and utilities for shared areas. Natural gas, hot water, and electricity are metered separately, with an estimated amount stated for each unit. Economizers will see a reduction, while heavy users will see an increase, according to actual usage. Private cable, phone, and internet are optional.
There is a 4 hour per week time commitment required of each resident, with hours to be utilized for the betterment or benefit of the entire community. Community members will log their own hours and report them for review at the weekly meeting. Suggestions for hours include but are not limited to: weeding or maintaining community recreation areas, building repairs and maintenance, improvement of wildlife habitat, designing or implementing future construction or improvements to the facility, community gardening, librarian, group leader, class instructor, permanent works of art... This work should be pleasurable and of interest to each community member.
There is also the option of working off up to half of the monthly base rent, perhaps even a higher percentage initially since there is so much to accomplish. Hours to be credited and must be approved in advance and may be chosen from a list of work that needs to be done at the time.
All rooms are non-smoking only. No recreational drugs or abuse of alcohol is allowed.
Full/Probationary Membership
For their first six months residents will rent on a month by month basis. If existing residents feel the 'new comer' is not working out, they may, worst case, ask them to leave. After six months a resident will have a greater say in the long-term planning and development, and may, if they wish, negotiate a lease agreement.
